FAQ

What do I need to bring with me?

Each person in the car should have a flashlight. At least one person in the car should have a cell phone that can take digital pictures (or a separate digital camera). Be prepared to get out of the car a few times, so dress according to the weather. Otherwise, bring something to write with (pencil or pen is best), a clipboard or two and some scratch paper. You may find other things handy (like GPS), but not required.

Can you give me some tips to help me win?

Read the instructions thoroughly before you start driving. Double-check your work. If you have several people in the car, it doesn’t hurt to work puzzles independently and check your answers because a wrong answer could send you off on a wild goose chase!

Some puzzles will be worked throughout the rally while others are just worked between stops. For puzzles that should be worked throughout the rally, it’s a good idea to review them from time to time or assign them to a specific rider in your car.

When you’re out of the car looking for answers to puzzles and other people are around you, don’t let other people know when you’ve found the answer because it’ll make it easier for them!

What if I get lost?

First, try to identify where you made your mistake. You may have to backtrack a couple of puzzles to find out what went wrong. Then, try to get back to where you were and continue on. It’s not uncommon to have to backtrack in a rally, that’s part of the fun!

If you are really lost and give up, call the tip line to get directions to the end destination. Who knows? Maybe you’ll still win a prize for best costume!

Will the rally be canceled if the weather is bad?

The rally will not be canceled for rain, snow or fog (drive accordingly). But if there is ice on the roads the rally will be canceled and full refunds issued.

What if I can’t solve a puzzle?

Call a friend you think can help you (or bring them along in the first place!). If you absolutely can’t solve the puzzle, call the provided phone number. You’ll lose points but you’ll be able to continue the rally.

Can I show up on the day of the rally without registering in advance?

We HIGHLY recommend you register for a rally at least 24-hours in advance (which is when registration closes) because only a certain number of teams can participate. Even if the rally doesn’t fill up we only print one set of rally packages for each registered team so the only way you’d be able to participate is if we have a no-show (which rarely happens).

Can I get a refund if I decide to cancel after I register?

Due to the nature of the rallies, with proceeds going to charities, no refunds are given. However, if you cancel at least 72 hours prior to the start of a rally, we’ll give you a credit for a future rally if there’s space available.
